Hojjat Mahani holds a Ph.D. degree in Medical Radiation Engineering with a strong background in Electrical Engineering. Hojjat is a highly motivated researcher who is working on tomographic image reconstruction and Monte Carlo modeling of tomographic scanners. He has served as a scientific reviewer for various peer-reviewed journals.

Hojjat's research is geared toward the understanding, modeling, simulation, and quantitative analysis of medical imaging systems. Hojjat is active in the field of state-of-the-art industrial x-ray CT, as well. His current research emphasizes on: • Monte Carlo simulation of tomographic imaging systems (CT, PET, and SPECT), • Up to 5D model-based tomographic reconstruction, • Synergistic image reconstruction, • Parametric image reconstruction and tracer kinetic modeling in emission tomography, • Multimodality medical imaging, including PET/MR, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and SPECT/MR, • Quantification of transmission/emission tomography images, • Molecular imaging of small animals, • Imaging in radiation therapy, • Spectral x-ray imaging, • Industrial x-ray CT.
